The Global Positioning Systems (GPS) course is designed to familiarize adult students with the background, uses and types of GPS civilian hand held equipment. Students will be able to correctly extrapolate Latitude / Longitude and Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) information from GPS to plot positions on paper maps and from paper maps to GPS units. Students will be informed about GPS terminology, accuracy, how to maintain accuracy and manufacturer disclaimer information. A GPS is not necessary for the course. The course is intended to help people who already have a GPS use it better, and to help those who do not in their selection of one. There are so many models on the market that class time does not allow individual manipulation of each model the students might bring. Students can be helped with their specific units after the class if they wish.
The GPS class costs $300 for a 4 hour class. Class size can be of any size up to a maximum of 25.
